CASE STUDY: Case-Ready MeatThe industry needed a packaging solution that would significantly extend product shelf-life, while reducing shrink and out-of-stock meat at the store level. From an operational standpoint, containers had to provide stacking strength, ergonomic handling, and loading efficiencies.

Tosca partnered with one of the largest retailers in the country to evaluate the available returnable plastic containers on the market, and opted to develop a custom container for the application. Our solution created a “four down” configuration, meaning four containers per layer on a standard GMA pallet. We worked to develop a new reusable container to optimize case-ready processes throughout the supply chain that met this industry’s specific needs.

The result:For almost 20 years, we have supplied the industry with a rent-per-use system that includes “never fail” sanitation, use of the container, management of the pool to maximize its turns and effectiveness for all stake holders.
