Repairing and maintaining pooled containers is at the core of sustainability—why discard something that can be fixed? Tosca has created processes to maintain, reuse and repair all types of containers. From containers that eventually reach their end life to internal waste streams, social responsibility is our expectation. Our solutions routinely exceed FDA requirements and in-process control checks ensure compliance to our high standards.

• For Tosca, each dedicated pool of plastic containers also represents a valuable investment in engineered resin, so we create incentive programs to achieve more turns from each container, more efficiency in the supply chain, and more life out of each pound of resin.

• The Tosca Repair Team operates like a pit crew for returnable containers owned by the company and by our customers. Each successful container repair is equivalent to 50-75% of the purchase price of a new container.

• Tosca works with used plastics brokers all over the country to ensure that spent containers, and debris generated by repair activities are recycled into useful products, and not landfilled.

DNR Case Studies
  
Tosca has worked with the DNR to put together case studies on our 640 Ironless Box stretch-wrap program and our paint reformulations that allowed us to lower VOC emissions and use much less caustic chemical to strip paint. These have been submitted to the DNR and are posted on the DNR web-site. Tosca was given the option to submit one or both of the case studies. The Green Team felt that both were good examples that other businesses could use as examples of “out of the box” thinking that resulted in sustainability benefits.
