(Atlanta,\u00a0January 21, 2022) Tosca, a global leader in reusable packaging and\u00a0pooling\u00a0announced their partnership with NAFCO, one of the largest seafood suppliers based out of the northeast. NAFCO is currently shipping large finfish in Tosca\u2019s 6419\u00a0crate\u00a0into over 350 stores located on the East Coast. In January, Tosca\u2019s new, smaller\u00a04319 seafood crate will begin shipping in the NAFCO supply chain as well, transporting other products such as\u00a0smaller filets of fish.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

NAFCO is Tosca’s first\u00a0seafood\u00a0supplier\u00a0partner\u00a0to go into multiple retail banners, allowing Tosca RPCs to generate a broader impact on the seafood market. Seafood RPCs\u00a0offer\u00a0several benefits\u00a0to the seafood supply chain. They\u00a0are more sustainable than\u00a0single use packaging alternatives such as foam and corrugated. Tosca\u2019s foldable RPCs\u00a0also reduce the need for storage trailers of foam at facilities.\u00a0Lastly, RPCs\u00a0cost less than EPS foam. On average,\u00a0the switch to RPCs generates an estimated 40-50% reduction in packaging costs,\u00a0allowing partners to\u00a0save\u00a0up to\u00a0a dollar a box.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Jeff Pearlman,\u00a0Vice President\u00a0at NAFCO,\u00a0is\u00a0especially\u00a0excited about the\u00a0sustainability\u00a0benefits RPCs bring to the NAFCO supply chain. \u201cSustainability is important to our\u00a0business\u00a0and we\u00a0are always looking for ways to make our supply chain more sustainable. RPCs\u00a0offer the opportunity for us to reduce the use of harmful EPS foam, while still preserving our ability to ship the highest quality products to our retail partners.”\u00a0<\/p>

During\u00a0the trial process\u00a0at the beginning of their relationship with Tosca,\u00a0NAFCO\u00a0wanted\u00a0to make sure that the product held temperature throughout the supply chain.\u00a0Tosca tested this\u00a0by\u00a0inserting\u00a0temperature devices\u00a0into\u00a0different RPCs in various segments of the supply chain,\u00a0tracking\u00a0internal temperature of RPCs carrying seafood\u00a0as\u00a0they\u00a0traveled from the DC to the store.\u00a0Throughout each trip, the inside of the RPCs and the seafood they carried maintained an average temperature of 34.86 degrees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
