What does PPWR mean for your business?

The regulation includes ambitious targets that will require a shift in how companies think about and manage packaging:

REDUCE: The PPWR sets binding packaging waste reduction targets—5% by 2030, increasing to 15% by 2040.

REUSE: Introduces mandatory reuse targets for specific packaging types (transport, sales, and grouped packaging), reaching 40% by 2030 and 70% by 2040.

RECYCLE: Requires minimum levels of recycled content in both food and non-food contact packaging.

EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility): Imposes fees on non-reusable packaging to cover waste management costs. Reusable packaging is generally exempt.
