How Cultiva cut waste and improved product quality with Tosca’s reusable packaging
In this short video, Federico, President at Cultiva, shares how their team transformed operations with Tosca’s reusable packaging. From reducing waste and product damage to improving cooling performance and efficiency, the partnership helped Cultiva scale with confidence — all while embracing a more sustainable future for agriculture.
Here’s the transcript
Agriculture is probably one of the oldest jobs in the world. I think there’s an opportunity to improve it, make it better for, for the farmer, for the people that work, for the environment, for the soil, and for the consumers.
Since the very beginning, we never seen other crates than Tosca. It’s really been part of our regular operation. I think if you ask some people on the field to name you a crate, they will tell Toska because that’s what we use for us.
It’s good to have a standardized crate for the senior, give us a massive level of flexibility.
Most of the consumption of fresh produce or most of the population in America is on the East coast, but most of the production is on the West Coast. So. There must be something we can do to cut out miles pollution days of freshen of the product.
In terms of the operations, I mean, they’re, they’re top notch. He’s built a culture here that is second to none, and that’s what allows him to be so successful in a complicated fast.
Environment like agriculture, you want to make sure that to eliminate problems. And working with Tosca is not a problem. On the contrary is an opportunity to, to do well.
Yeah, so the fact that the Tosca crates are reusable is really a good thing. On the durability of a crate, for sure.
There’s a positive consequence on the environment. We don’t have to create new crates every time. So, uh, I think is the reuse, the concept of reusable crate is something that we embrace and we, it has to be part of the future of agriculture (when) Compared to the single use packaging.
The different things about those two (corrugated and RPCs) is the way they feel. When you set up the cardboard boxes, they’re usually hard since they’re made up out of wax and to put it in connecting; but the RPCs, we usually just pick it up, it clicks. Its ready to use.
I think the design of a Tosca, I think we use the 6428. Its right size allows proper, uh, it contains enough product, but at the same time doesn’t create any mechanical damage, whatsoever. But more importantly, it’s the ventilation for our crop is perfect. There’s good ventilation, and for the type of rapid cooling system that we use, we use force there.
It really guarantees great cooling performance on our product.
The biggest benefit is you’re gonna get a business partner, not just a supplier. You’re gonna get. An organization who has experienced people who are interested in building relationships with you and winning together with you.
That’s the most important thing for me. It’s a sort of peace of mind. We are in an industry where we cannot afford to think and work alone. You want to choose your partner to make sure they help you succeed. May also make your life easy. Why not? We already are so, so many problems to think about. You take care of your part for us.
